LevelApp has empowered Dorcas to write her own story

I’m a Congolese refugee in Kampala, who arrived alongside my mother and sisters in Uganda in 1996 fleeing war from the Eastern region of DRC.

I’ve learned Luganda & English but the day to day life is always a challenge, therefore small jobs like cleaning people’s houses were the only way to survive. In a full day of cleaning someone’s house & clothes, I was paid 20,000UGX, but I was shocked to earn 27,000UGX on my phone, seating at home with no sweat!

For some, this may not be much but for me, it’s a miracle. I escaped being raped, saved by a security guard for cleaning people’s houses and this is a permanent risk to I take every day when entering someone else’s house.

My family and I are planning to invite like 10 to 20 refugees to introduce them to LevelApp in an in-house group event because I’m not the only one who takes these risks on a daily basis just to get something to eat.

I will really like to thank you even though the money is not much but the little I get can save my life. I pray for LevelApp. Nowadays, I’ve changed my prayers. I don’t pray to come back alive from my cleaning job but I pray for LevelApp not to leave Uganda so that I don’t go back to cleaning ever.”
