Arisha Akbar
Arisha is REFUNITE’s Project Manager for the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) solution and call centre in Pakistan. Her role at REFUNITE comprises of various aspects, including user research, prototyping and testing, as well as developing partnerships and liaising with stakeholders. Prior to working with REFUNITE, Arisha worked with Telenor in the Partnerships team. Arisha holds a BSc degree in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan.

Lotte Jespersen
Before joining REFUNITE Lotte Jespersen lived and worked in the tourist industry for over 20 years in Spain and Florida. She moved back to Denmark in 2001 and joined Euro-Alarm and Europæiske Travel Insurance as an accountant. Later she was Head of Economy at the Foundation Baltic Sea Solution, working with renewable energy projects. Over the past seven years she has been self-employed and managing her own accounting company.

Rupert Turnbull
Rupert Turnbull started his career in media at Leo Burnett, working on global giant brands such as McDonalds, Procter & Gamble, United Biscuits & Mercedes. From there he moved into magazine publishing where he has stayed for 19 years. Working on magazine brands including HELLO!, Men’s Health, Condé Nast Traveller, House & Garden and GQ. He was launch Publisher of Wired UK and oversaw its evolution from print magazine to multi-platform brand, with a digital portfolio, several annual conferences, a weekly podcast and a consulting business. Jana van Greunen
Jana van Greunen is currently VP, Engineering at Datrium, a venture funded storage startup. Datrium provides open-converged storage for datacenters. Prior to Datrium, Jana van Greunen was at Facebook managing the Content Distribution Network development. Prior to that, she was VP of Software Engineering at Silver Spring Networks where she built the largest outdoor wireless mesh IPv6 network. Jana van Greunen holds a Ph.D from UC Berkeley with 9 publications and 22 patents.

John is a Junior Front End Developer at REFUNITE, ensuring implementation and good engineering practices. Prior to joining REFUNITE, he worked as an android developer for Caytree Partners. He holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from the University of Nairobi.

Giulia Balestra
As Communications Coordinator for REFUNITE, Giulia is involved in a wide range of projects, spanning from communications, to project management, UX, user acquisition and growth, as well as research and testing. Before joining REFUNITE, she focused on the intersection between social innovation, refugee protection, research and project management, working closely with refugee communities developing solutions that address refugees’ needs. Most recently, Giulia worked on a mobile project in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya and in reception centres for asylum seekers in Switzerland. She holds a MSc in Medical Anthropology and a Postgraduate diploma in Social Innovation Management.

Rody Bashizi
As a Senior Outreach Officer for REFUNITE in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rody’s job involves language localization, troubleshooting support, prototyping for trainings, communications and outreach and providing situations updates. Rody also used to work as team leader of REFUNITE Outreach Volunteers in Kampala, Uganda. Prior to joining REFUNITE, Rody worked as an ICT Manager with Young African Refugee for Integral Development (YARDIS), Swahili, English and French Interpreter at LAP Uganda and School of International Training (S.I.T), as well as volunteer IT trainer at Tamuka Hub Xavier Project in Kampala. Angela Ng’ethe
Angela works with ensuring that all aspects of Administration, Operations, Human Resources, Finance and Legal are acquired and implemented at REFUNITE. She brings on board her wealth of experience especially for start up companies and is expected to recommend and implement relevant policies and procedures in line with the company’s strategic goal. Angela is a graduate of Kianda College and has an Advanced certificate in Management Studies from the NEBS Body in the UK.

Alexandra Aparicio
Alexandra’s work involves coordinating the field operations in South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda. Prior to joining the team in East Africa, Alexandra was the Latin America Manager for REFUNITE; coordinating volunteers across Brazil, to assist refugees and asylum seekers in registering in the family tracing platform and searching for their loved ones. She has previously worked in Public Relations for Ketchum and was a member of the Plan International Brasil’s board of directors. Alexandra has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Communications from Faculdades Integradas Alcântara Machado.

Alexander Bugge
Alexander’s work involves coordinating various project, fundraising and online marketing. Before joining REFUNITE, he was the editor in chief of a Danish international relations journal and has helped the Danish Minister of Social Affairs get elected to office. He holds a MA in Intelligence and International Security from King’s College London, UK.
