During the United Nations General Assembly week at the UN Headquarters in New York, REFUNITE was selected to participate to the Solutions Summit between the 19th and 22nd of September 2016.

REUNITE selected for the Solutions Summit at the United Nations HQ UN General Assembly Week 

In conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) week and the high-level meetings held at the United Nations Headquarters, the Solutions Summit also took place in New York between the 19th and 22nd of September 2016. The Solutions Summit is an uplifting platform for solution-makers to showcase their ideas and efforts in tackling some of the goals that are on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Out of the 438 solutions submitted for the summit from around the world, only 10 had the chance to be presented at the UN Headquarters on the 21st of September.  REFUNITE was one of the ideas that were selected for the Solutions Summit.

REFUNITE’s Director of Global Communication and Strategy Ida Jeng was invited to give a talk during the summit and to explain how REFUNITE provides a solution to the over 65.3 million people who have been displaced by war, persecution or catastrophes globally. REFUNITE was also invited to the Business Summit at Columbia University. Before the two Summits, REFUNITE and the other participants met and were briefed by Megan Smith, Chief Technology Officer of the White House.

The gathering was also an opportunity to remind the selected audience of innovators, industry leaders, policymakers, and investors, that everyone has the right to know where their family is and that, in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, no one should be left behind.
